Naturopathy center at Telengana

AYUSH plans to set up a 500-bed naturopathy centre at Anantagiri Hills located in the Vikarabad district as one of the major tourist destinations of  Telangana. According to State Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy (AYUSH) Department sources, Anantagiri Hills with its natural settings of forest and hill areas had been identified as the most suitable location, to establish a naturopathy centre to extend different traditional Ayurvedic services like panchakarma treatment and the like.

Speaking to The Hans India, a senior official from the AYUSH Department said that the project would be put on fast track once the State government gives its clearance. The objective is to develop the centre as an Ayurveda Wellness and Spa for tourists and to run a full-fledged hospital. Once it is cleared, the department would seek funds from the national AYUSH mission scheme, which provides funds, to build naturopathy centres, he added.

The State AYUSH is optimistic in sourcing funds under the Central scheme, as it is already getting funds for the upgrading institutional infrastructure of hospitals functioning under it in different parts of the State. Construction of hostel, library, laboratory and outpatient blocks had been taken up in JSPS Government Homeo Medical College, BRKR Ayurvedic Hospital, and Unani Hospital in Hyderabad with the Central funds. Further, at the district level, construction and renovation of hospitals functioning in Adilabad, Karimnagar, Khammam, Nalgonda and Mahbubnagar would be taken up under the national mission. Besides, funds are provided for the construction of new and renovation of old dispensary buildings under the scheme. Also, steps had been taken to avail the national mission funds of Rs 2 lakh per year per dispensary to make available drugs of alternative medicines in different hospitals located in the districts.

Following the State government’s positive response the department is chalking out plans to further expand its foot prints in the newly formed districts, to strengthen the AYUSH operations, availing the Central funds, in addition to the regular funds from the State government, he said.
