pls advice me on coronory artery plaque

  • Dear Logendran,
Let me first tell u about this disease. According to modern science,
Coronary Artery Disease is narrowing and blockage of coronary artery
(The artery which supplies blood to the heart) due to Artherosclerosis.
Artherosclerosis is deposition of plaque like Calcium, Cholestrol, clotting
proteins over the walls of arteries causing its narrowing or blockage. Due to this blood supply to heart is impaired. If the blood supply to the heart muscle is severely reduced or stopped, and the heart doesn’t receive the oxygen it needs, a ‘Heart Attack’ occurs. Most people with coronary artery disease have no symptoms at all. When the narrowing worsens angina symptoms may develop. The most common symptoms of angina include chest pain or chest heaviness. Some patients may be candidates for angioplasty or coronary artery bypass surgery.

Now let me explain Siddha aspect of this disease. All diseases in Siddha
are classified on basis of derrangement in trithodam or 3 humours –
Vatham, Pitham and kapham. Mostly this deposition of plaque is the
vitiation and disturbance of kapham humour. The hardening of arteries
may take place due to involvement of Vatham. Pitham may aggrevate and cause symptoms like high B.P, burning sensation in chest, anger, stress etc.

So for treatment in Siddha, we have to first get the complete profile of your disease, naadi, history of disease, examination etc so as to get a proper picture of the 3 humour involvement. There are drugs in Siddha which are given and are helpful such conditions. One of them is Siringi Parpam. Any way, advice can be given for controlling the severity of the disease.

    The important advices include:
    - Take low fat and low cholestrol diet, low salt diet. Control your weight if you are overweight.
    - Have lots of green vegetables, amla or nellikai etc. A decoction or powder of stembark of marutham or Terminalia arjuna is effective.
    - Say no to smoking and alcohol
    - Avoid exposure to secondary smoke.
    - Eat a healthy diet
    - Follow an exercise plan developed with your doctor.
    - Take prescribed medications as directed.
    - If you have high blood pressure
Learn how to take your blood pressure.
Check your blood pressure every day.
Keep a log of your results.
    - If you have diabetes.
Check your blood sugar every day.
Keep a log of your results.
    - Learn how to take your own pulse.
    - Try to practice breathing exercise or pranayamam. This will keep the oxygen to the heart muscle.
    - Meditation will be very helpful.

A very strict diet along with proper medication will bring great results.
