In Siddha, there is a topic of clothing and ornaments. Siddha literature explains the use of various fabrics like cotton, wool, silk, etc. Importance of different clothing, colours, dress codes, etc are mentioned in Siddha literature's.
This verses said by Thirumoolar was so scientific, deep and beyond imagination. Our Physical Body is made up of Five elements - Munn (Earth), Neer (Water), Thee (Fire), Vali (Air), Aakayam (Space). These five elements are the fundemental components of our Universe too.
Kayakalpa in Siddha is based on Pancha bhootha panchikarnam. Human body is made of 5 elements and 3 humours (Vatham, Pitham and Kapham). These forces or humours are in a balanced ratio in our body say 1:1/2:1/4 as Vatha: Pitha: Kapha.
The mother during this period undergoes various changes as a preparation to receive the offspring. The evidence of this was found in his verses of "Agasthiyar Vaidya Vallathi 800" known as "Agasthiyar Pindolpathi".
Fresh leaves, root, bark, flowers, unripe fruits and raw drugs like inji (ginger) are taken,ground in kalvam, filtered in a cloth, juice is extracted, poured into a mud vessel and boiled for some time so that the water content is greatly reduced.
The techniques employed by Siddhars were modified as time passed and today we have got the latest methods of surgery and other treatment aspects. But these treatments techniques are still practised by Traditional Siddha Vaidyars or Practioners.
Siddha Medicine is most ancient and spiritually enriched one. Medicines are formulated and prepared by the Siddhars thousands of years ago after undergoing various research work on flora, fauna and the rich mineral resources of Mother Earth.
Years passed and this system got confined in the present Tamil Nadu, in hands of small groups of Traditional vaidyars or practitioners. The secrets of preparing medicines, mode of treatment and the precious Siddha literatures have been kept hidden.
Muppu is a method of preparation of universal salt. This is not known to all siddha practioners as it requires much effort and processes for the preparation. Still there are practitioners doing this but it is kept as secrets between masses.
Today, the treatment like physiotherapy, panchakarmam, marmam, accupressure, naturopathy and yoga are well known separately but it can be confirmed that all these are evolved from Siddha system of Medicine or Siddham.
