Thippili – Natural remedy for Cough

Plant name : Thippili means "Increasing the Azhal humour or Pitha humour". Botanical name : Piper longum Family : Piperaceae Actions : Carminative, Expectorant, Stomachic, and Stimulant. Siddha Medicinal Uses : Powdered choornam of thippili roots are taken and used by the Varma Asans (Physicians) for blowing into the nose of the patient in faintness, giddiness etc. The roots of the plants are taken and ground with milk and given for thirst and vali noi.

The juice of the samoolam is given in the dose of 5-10 ml and given daily thrice a day for fever, diarrhoea, swellings etc. The dried leaf powder can be given in dose of 2-4 grams twice daily for poisonous bites, diarrhoea, fever, heart diseases, aneamia, skin diseases like scabies, and dropsy conditions.
