Plant name : Thippili means “Increasing the Azhal humour or Pitha humour”.
Botanical name : Piper longum
Family : Piperaceae
Actions : Carminative, Expectorant, Stomachic, and Stimulant.
Siddha Medicinal Uses :
- Powdered choornam of thippili roots are chewed well by Varma Asans (Physicians) for blowing into the nose of the patient in conditions like faintness, giddiness etc.
- The roots of the plants are taken and ground with milk and given for thirst and vali noi.
- Siddha medicines like Thippili rasayanam is very effective drug for cough and bronchial ailments.
- Chukku, Milagu (Pepper) and Thippili when purified and mixed in equal quantity is known as Thirikadugu. This is an effective digestive, carminative and expectorant and passifies the three humours (Vali, Azhal and Iyam).
- Thippili is taken as karpam by mixing its powder with honey and administered for one month.
- Thippili choornam 1/4 palam (1 palam = 35 grams) is taken and added to 350 ml of cows milk and boiled and taken internally. This is an effective remedy for Irumal (cough), Vaivu (flatulance), Morchai (faintness) and Muppini (derrangement of three humours).
- Thippili powder fried in ghee and taken in dose of one to two gram twice a day for cough and cold.
- For diarrhoea due indigestion one to six gram of thippili powder is mixed with 200 to 300 ml of butter milk and given.

Adathoda leaf can be given to children. No Side effects and it is very safe. It is quite bitter in taste.
For childer 5 to six drops of leaf juice can be given with honey two to four times or more if needed.
Can be give for all respiratory ailments.
Fresh leaves can be prepared as decoction also.

I daily using Thippally rasayanam. I have continues sneezing. Now I am pregenat. Is there is any side effect using this during pregenacy

I have bronchitis and nasal septum…. I can breadth only through either of the noses… one of my friend told me to take thippilli along with honey…. how many times should i take and what are the other ways to cure my problem… i get slight wheezing, cant sleep properly at night since i cant breadth properly…. Kindly help me out.

my name is vimala, i am having a son of 4 years old , he is having continuous cough and cold,i tried many medicine in alopathy and homeopathy, his complaints are having sinusities,cough during sleep (late night at 1.00am or 3.00am)early morning cough for more than 20 mts,after vomiting the cough is subsiding, i have GERD i am also had the same complaints of nocturnal cough, the cough coming for my son is dry cough and becuse some irritation in throat, recently he is taking Thipili Rasayanam but i dont know about the dosage we can given according to his age and what additional medicine i can give to him, whether this Thipili Rasayam is safe.
