An AYUSH medical camp and health-awareness programme was organised at the Salem District Combined Court premises, bringing traditional systems of medicine and preventive healthcare closer to members of the judiciary, legal fraternity and court staff.
The programme, titled “Neethi Nalam,” was jointly organised by the Directorate of Indian Medicine and Homoeopathy, Chennai, and the District Legal Services Authority, Salem, as part of an initiative to promote awareness about AYUSH-based healthcare and healthy living.
The camp was inaugurated by Principal District Judge Swarnam J. Natarajan. Judicial officers, advocates, court employees and advocate clerks participated in the programme.
As part of the medical camp, participants were offered free basic health screening, including checks for blood pressure, weight and pulse rate. Doctors and healthcare professionals were also available for consultations in various AYUSH disciplines, including Siddha, Ayurveda, Unani, Homoeopathy and Naturopathy.
A medicinal plants exhibition was another highlight of the event. Visitors were introduced to various medicinal plants and their traditional uses, helping create greater awareness about the role of natural resources in healthcare.
The programme also featured health-awareness sessions and demonstrations focusing on yoga and wellness practices. These sessions highlighted the importance of preventive healthcare, physical activity and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
More than 100 people attended the camp, making it an important health-awareness initiative within the court premises.
The organisers said such programmes can help improve awareness of traditional systems of medicine while encouraging people to pay greater attention to preventive healthcare and overall well-being.
