In a significant step towards promoting preventive healthcare and encouraging healthier lifestyles, the Ministry of AYUSH has launched the Yoga Park Portal, an innovative digital platform that aims to transform public parks into vibrant community wellness hubs across the country.
The initiative was unveiled as part of the countdown to International Day of Yoga 2026, reinforcing the government’s commitment to making yoga an integral part of everyday life. The portal is designed to support state governments, urban local bodies, village panchayats, resident welfare associations, educational institutions, and corporate organizations in establishing dedicated Yoga Parks that are accessible to people of all age groups.
Unlike conventional parks, these Yoga Parks will feature specially designated spaces for yoga sessions, meditation, breathing exercises, and other wellness activities. By encouraging citizens to practice yoga in natural surroundings, the Ministry hopes to inspire healthier routines while fostering stronger community engagement.
The Yoga Park Portal also serves as a one-stop digital platform offering registration facilities, implementation guidelines, concept notes, and resource materials to help organizations plan, develop, and maintain these wellness spaces efficiently.
Officials from the Ministry emphasized that the initiative is part of a broader vision to shift India’s healthcare focus from treatment to prevention. With lifestyle-related diseases on the rise, creating accessible spaces for regular physical activity and mental well-being has become increasingly important.
The launch aligns with the theme of International Day of Yoga 2026 – “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” highlighting yoga’s role in enhancing physical fitness, mental health, flexibility, and overall quality of life, especially among senior citizens.
As Yoga Parks begin to take shape across the country, the Ministry envisions them becoming permanent centers of wellness where families, students, professionals, and senior citizens can come together to embrace a healthier and more balanced lifestyle.
The Yoga Park Portal marks another milestone in India’s ongoing efforts to make yoga a daily habit and strengthen the nation’s culture of preventive healthcare.
