PM Modi Urges Athletes to Become Ambassadors of AYUSH Ministry’s ‘Yoga 365’ Campaign

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called upon athletes from across the globe to become ambassadors of the Ministry of AYUSH’s “Yoga 365” campaign, a year-round initiative aimed at encouraging people to incorporate yoga into their daily lives.

Addressing participants ahead of the 1st World Yogasana Sports Championship 2026, the Prime Minister emphasized that yoga is no longer confined to a single day of celebration but has evolved into a global movement promoting health, wellness, and holistic living. He urged athletes to take the message of yoga beyond competition arenas and inspire communities worldwide to embrace the ancient practice throughout the year.

The “Yoga 365” campaign seeks to promote regular yoga practice among people of all age groups, reinforcing the idea that yoga is a lifestyle rather than an annual event. The initiative aligns with the broader vision of the Ministry of AYUSH to make preventive healthcare and wellness an integral part of everyday life.

Prime Minister Modi noted that the growing international popularity of yoga reflects its universal appeal and effectiveness in improving physical fitness, mental well-being, and emotional balance. He highlighted that athletes, through their dedication and public influence, are uniquely positioned to motivate millions to adopt healthier lifestyles.

The appeal comes as India prepares to celebrate the International Day of Yoga on June 21, 2026. This year’s observance carries the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” focusing on the role of yoga in enhancing quality of life and promoting active, healthy ageing.

The World Yogasana Sports Championship, being hosted in Ahmedabad, marks a significant step in promoting Yogasana as a competitive sport while simultaneously strengthening yoga’s global outreach. Participants from several countries are expected to showcase their skills, reflecting the growing recognition of yoga on the international stage.

As preparations for International Day of Yoga gather momentum, the Prime Minister’s message underscores India’s continued efforts to position yoga as a powerful tool for global health, harmony, and well-being.
