AYUSH Ministry Launches DRAVYA Portal to Catalogue 100 Medicinal Substances
Key Features of DRAVYA

The Ministry of AYUSH has launched DRAVYA, a cutting-edge digital portal designed to catalogue and standardize information on 100 key medicinal substances used across Ayurveda and allied traditional systems. The initiative marks a significant step in digitizing India’s rich traditional medicinal knowledge.
The portal, developed by the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), was unveiled during the 10th Ayurveda Day celebrations. AYUSH Minister Prataprao Jadhav described DRAVYA as “more than a digital archive — it is a living repository that bridges ancient wisdom with modern scientific methods.”
Key Features of DRAVYA
-
Comprehensive Data: DRAVYA provides detailed profiles of each medicinal substance, covering botany, chemistry, pharmacology, therapeutic uses, and safety data.
-
AI-Ready Platform: The portal is designed for advanced analytics and future integration with artificial intelligence tools.
-
QR Code Integration: Medicinal plant gardens, repositories, and drug collections can link directly to DRAVYA entries using QR codes.
-
Open Access: Students, researchers, practitioners, and policymakers can freely access information to support education, research, and innovation.
According to AYUSH Secretary Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, DRAVYA will serve as a credible, technology-driven resource for researchers and innovators, providing a standardized reference that strengthens evidence-based practices in Ayurveda.
Prof. Rabinarayan Acharya, Director General of CCRAS, highlighted that while the first phase focuses on 100 substances, future phases will expand the catalogue to include hundreds more. The portal also aims to integrate with other digital health initiatives under the Ayush Grid, creating a unified ecosystem for traditional medicine research.
The launch of DRAVYA is part of the Ministry’s broader strategy to preserve, standardize, and make globally accessible India’s centuries-old medicinal knowledge while fostering innovation and research in the AYUSH sector.
