New Delhi, March 21, 2025: The Ministry of AYUSH has initiated a comprehensive sensitisation drive aimed at preventing heatwave-related health concerns across the country. Recognizing the increasing intensity of heatwaves, the ministry is promoting Ayurvedic practices, Siddha therapies, and Yoga techniques to help people safeguard their health during extreme temperatures.
The initiative emphasizes hydration with herbal drinks, consumption of cooling foods, and lifestyle modifications to maintain body balance. Additionally, the ministry recommends regular practice of pranayama and other breathing exercises to strengthen internal immunity and heat tolerance.
The sensitisation drive includes public awareness campaigns, community workshops, and educational sessions to equip people with the knowledge to manage heat stress effectively. Traditional remedies such as sharbat, buttermilk, and herbal infusions have been highlighted as natural cooling agents.
A ministry spokesperson stated that the drive aims to reduce heat-related mortality and morbidity, especially in vulnerable populations. Special focus is being given to educating rural communities and urban slum dwellers, who are often the most affected by extreme heat conditions.
As part of the initiative, the Ministry of Ayush is collaborating with state health departments and local authorities to ensure widespread dissemination of preventive measures. Health camps offering free consultations on heatwave management using traditional Indian medicine systems are also being planned.
This proactive effort by the Ayush Ministry is a significant step toward ensuring the safety and well-being of the public as temperatures continue to rise across the country.
