‘Desh Ka Swasthya Parikshan’: A National Awakening Towards Preventive Health, Says Union Ayush Minister Prataprao Jadhav

In a landmark initiative towards building a healthier nation, the Ministry of Ayush has launched “Desh Ka Swasthya Parikshan”, a nationwide campaign that aims to awaken citizens towards the importance of preventive health and self-care.

The campaign was unveiled by Union Minister of Ayush (Independent Charge) Shri Prataprao Jadhav during the 10th Ayurveda Day celebrations held in Goa. Addressing a packed audience of health experts, researchers, and Ayurveda enthusiasts, Shri Jadhav described the initiative as “not merely an assessment, but a national awakening towards preventive health.”

🗣️ “Our vision is to empower every citizen to understand their own health profile through Ayurveda’s timeless principles. Prevention is the foundation of health, and this campaign is about taking responsibility before illness begins,” he said.

🌿 A New Chapter in Preventive Healthcare

The Desh Ka Swasthya Parikshan campaign has been conceptualized by the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), under the Ministry of Ayush.
It focuses on promoting health awareness and lifestyle changes rooted in Ayurveda’s preventive care philosophy.

A key component of the campaign is the CCRAS Swasthya Assessment Scale, a scientific tool that helps assess an individual’s health status based on Ayurvedic parameters like Prakriti (body constitution), Agni (digestion), and Ojas (vital energy).

🏥 Nationwide Implementation

The program will be rolled out through a wide network of institutions, including:

  • CCRAS research centers across India

  • Ayurveda teaching colleges under the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM)

  • Partner institutes under the National Ayush Mission (NAM)

  • State-level Ayurvedic wellness centers and panchayat-based health campaigns

Through this decentralized model, millions of citizens will be able to participate in the health assessments free of cost and receive guidance on lifestyle correction, diet, and stress management.

💬 Voices from the Event

Dr. Rabinarayan Acharya, Director General of CCRAS, highlighted the scientific rigor behind the campaign:

“This initiative bridges traditional Ayurvedic wisdom with modern research tools. It’s about creating a national health consciousness grounded in prevention.”

Health experts at the event also praised the integration of technology, as the assessment process will use a digital health interface to compile and analyze citizen health data for policy planning.

🌸 Ayurveda Day: A Symbol of Harmony and Healing

The campaign’s launch coincided with the 10th Ayurveda Day, themed “Ayurveda for One Health”, celebrating the holistic connection between humans, animals, and the environment.
The event witnessed participation from governors, chief ministers, researchers, and over 2,000 delegates representing the global Ayurveda community.

🕊️ Towards a Health-Conscious India

The message from the Ministry of Ayush is clear — India’s future health strategy must shift from curative to preventive.
“Desh Ka Swasthya Parikshan” symbolizes this shift — a call for citizens to adopt mindful living, balanced diets, and the preventive health wisdom that has long been part of India’s heritage.

As Shri Jadhav concluded in his address:

“When every individual understands their health, the nation becomes stronger. Ayurveda teaches us to live in harmony with nature — that is the essence of true wellness.”
