The students of Government Siddha Medical College, Palayamkottai, as part of their Golden jubilee celebrations organised a 3 day exhibition highlighting the efficacy of siddha medicines and their importance in the present generation featuring Siddha formulations which provide desired relief to dengue and chikungunya.
Without getting any support from the college administration, the students mobilised funds from the sponsors for the events, converted their college premises into a vibrant dais that effectively showcased the power of siddha medicines to ensure permanent cure without any side-effects for a wide range of ailments. The students dedicated a section of their exhibition to detect diabetes, siddha medicines for diabetics, counselling etc. A huge crowd was seen near this section throughout the day. The ‘siddha remedy’ for cancer, obesity, hypertension, skin problems, sexually transmitted diseases, renal and gynecological complications, infertility etc attracted decent mass.
Various reputed companies manufacturing and marketing siddha formulations displayed their products and organic food grains which attracted huge crowd. The ‘herbal magic’ of the budding siddha practitioners and students enthralled the audience. The students also distributed free ‘nilavembu’ plants to the public as the ‘Nilavembu kudineer’ is a preventive medicine and does wonders for the patients suffering from dengue, chikunguya and other viral fevers. The lunch and tiffin, prepared with traditional grains, where being served in the make-shift canteen on the college premises. On the first day of the event, ponnankanni varagu rice, sambar, vegetable salad, beetroot pickle and buttermilk, all priced at Rs.65, was served to the visitors. Even the ‘vettiver’ drinking water served at the canteen too carried the siddha flavour. Collector M. Karunakaran inaugurated the event on Friday 23 rd of January 2015.
