Beauty products like Underarm deodorants, make up products, moisturiser, face scrub, hair care products, shaving products, oral care products contain a harmful chemical preservative ‘Parabens’. This chemical mimics the estrogen hormone in our body which is a triggering factor of breast cancer in females. ‘Parabens’ was first detected and reported in deo sprays and antiperspirants. Now a new study conducted on women reveals the evidence of parabens in 99% of the breast tissue sample taken. But none of these women used any underarm products. So from where did this parabens come?
Parabens is the most widely used preservative in cosmetics in order to protect them from microbial growth. Even some pharmaceutical medicines and processed foods contain Parabens. Though Parabens is used in these and also found from the tissue sample of breast during the study, scientists are still conducting research to conclude that parabens actually caused cancer but it is confirmed that these chemicals are cancer causing and may be linked to the increasing incidence of Cancer cases world wide. This chemical is also one of the causes of cosmetic allergies, contact dermatitis, skin irritation etc.
Parabens is known by various names like Methyl Paraben, Ethyl Paraben, Propyl Paraben, Butyl Paraben, Isopropyl Paraben, Isobutyl Paraben, BenzylParahydroxyBenzoic acids, Methyl Parahydroxybenzoic acid, Ethyl Parahydroxybenzoic acid, Propyl parahydroxybenzoic acid, Butyl Parahydroxybenzoic acid, Parahydroxybenzoic acid, Parahydroxybenzoate. Check out these names in the beauty or cosmetic products you buy. Though front label may not reveal, the ingredient detail printed on the back of the pack may reveal paraben family names discussed above. Never believe in taking chances with breast health. Always use Paraben free products. Better be safe than Sorry.
