Ayush Ministry to Host 2-Day Global Ayurveda Conference at IISc Bengaluru on December 1–2
Tackling Obesity & Metabolic Syndrome Through Ayurveda

India’s traditional medical science is set to take center stage as the Ministry of Ayush prepares to host a two-day international conference on Ayurveda at the prestigious Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, on December 1 and 2. The event is expected to bring together top researchers, clinicians, academicians, and global experts to discuss innovative approaches to metabolic diseases through the lens of Ayurveda.
The conference is being organized by the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) through its Bengaluru unit — the Central Ayurveda Research Institute (CARI) — in collaboration with IISc and NIMHANS.
Focus: Tackling Obesity & Metabolic Syndrome Through Ayurveda
The theme of this year’s conference is “Ayurveda and Integrative Approaches to Obesity & Metabolic Syndrome.”
As lifestyle disorders continue to surge worldwide, the Ministry aims to highlight how Ayurvedic principles, when paired with modern science, can offer effective prevention and management strategies.
Sessions will explore:
-
Integrative models for managing Type 2 Diabetes
-
Ayurvedic and biomedical approaches to obesity and dyslipidemia
-
New findings from molecular biology, nanotechnology, and translational research
-
Clinical case studies blending traditional and contemporary practices
Leading experts from India and abroad are expected to deliver keynote lectures, share research insights, and propose collaborative frameworks.
Key Events Over the Two Days
🔹 Day 1: Scientific Symposium
A comprehensive symposium on “Translational Science and Integrative Medicine Approaches” will officially open the conference. Discussions will center around how Ayurveda can play a pivotal role in addressing metabolic conditions that currently affect millions.
🔹 Day 2: Advanced Workshop
The second day will feature a specialized workshop covering:
-
Nanotechnology applications in Ayurveda research
-
Molecular biology tools for evidence-based validation
-
Demonstrations on integrative treatment models
🔹 Health Screening Camp
Alongside the academic events, a public health-screening camp will be organized by CCRAS and Bengaluru-based endocrinology centers to raise awareness about lifestyle diseases and provide accessible consultations.
Why This Matters
The conference marks a growing global interest in Ayurveda as a complementary and integrative medical system. With metabolic diseases becoming a worldwide epidemic, organizers believe Ayurveda’s time-tested principles — such as personalized diet, lifestyle modification, and herbal therapeutics — can play a transformational role.
A senior Ayush Ministry official noted,
“This event is more than a conference — it is a platform for bridging ancient wisdom with cutting-edge science. The idea is to create pathways for collaborative research that benefits public health globally.”
Experts say the event could also strengthen India’s leadership in the global traditional-medicine landscape and pave the way for future cross-disciplinary research collaborations.
What to Expect Next
The outcomes of the Bengaluru conference are likely to influence upcoming national and international discussions on integrative healthcare. Research papers, joint projects, and international collaborations emerging from the event could help shape evidence-based guidelines for metabolic health management using Ayurveda.
