Kerala NEET UG 2025: KAU Triples BSc and Allied Course Fees Amid AYUSH Counselling

AYUSH Counselling Process

In a significant development that has stirred discussions among students and parents, the Kerala Agricultural University (KAU) has increased the annual tuition fees for BSc and allied courses to ₹72,000, up from ₹24,050. The move comes as the state’s AYUSH NEET UG 2025 counselling process is underway.

The revised fees apply to courses such as Ayurveda, Homoeopathy, Siddha, Unani, and agriculture-related disciplines. According to the university, the hike will affect both new admissions and ongoing batches, aligning with the Kerala Government’s policy to enhance educational program fees by 5% annually.

Details of the Fee Structure

For the BSc (Hons.) Agriculture course, the tuition fee has been set at ₹11,450 per semester, amounting to ₹22,900 per year. In addition to this, students are required to pay a one-time admission fee of ₹840 and a refundable caution deposit of ₹1,680.

The overall annual fee across BSc and allied courses has been raised to ₹72,000, marking a threefold increase from previous years.

Impact on Students

The decision has sparked concerns among students and their families about the financial burden, particularly as many are navigating the AYUSH counselling process. Several parents expressed apprehension that the sudden increase in fees might affect students from lower- and middle-income backgrounds.

However, officials from KAU defended the move, stating that the fee revision is necessary to support infrastructure improvements, faculty recruitment, and enhanced educational facilities.
