Ministry of Ayush Promotes ‘Yoga for Unity’ on National Unity Day 2026

The Ministry of AYUSH has highlighted the message of ‘Yoga for Unity’ on the occasion of National Unity Day 2026, marking the 151st birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The initiative aims to strengthen national integration, social harmony and public well-being through the practice of Yoga.
The campaign connects the spirit of national unity with the growing importance of Yoga as a tool for physical fitness, mental balance and preventive healthcare. It encourages people from different age groups, communities and backgrounds to come together through a shared commitment to healthy living.
Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ayush, Prataprao Jadhav, highlighted the role of Yoga in bringing people together beyond regional, cultural and social differences. He emphasised that the message of unity associated with Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel can be carried forward through collective participation and individual responsibility.
Yoga 365: Encouraging Everyday Practice
The ‘Yoga for Unity’ initiative also complements the Ministry’s broader ‘Yoga 365’ campaign, which encourages citizens to make Yoga a regular part of their daily lives rather than restricting its practice to special occasions such as International Yoga Day.
Under this initiative, Yoga and Naturopathy institutions associated with the Ministry are encouraged to organise community-based Yoga sessions, public awareness programmes and activities that promote regular participation.
The objective is to take Yoga beyond institutional settings and make it accessible to people across communities, helping them understand its potential benefits for physical and mental well-being.
Connecting Preventive Healthcare with National Unity
AYUSH Secretary Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha also highlighted the importance of Yoga in promoting healthier lifestyles and strengthening community connections. The initiative reflects the Ministry’s continued efforts to position traditional wellness practices as an important part of India’s preventive healthcare approach.
By encouraging collective Yoga activities, the campaign seeks to create greater public awareness about healthy living while reinforcing the values of cooperation, inclusion and social harmony.
A Shared Commitment to a Healthier India
The ‘Yoga for Unity’ message brings together two important ideas: the importance of national integration and the value of individual well-being. Through sustained public participation and everyday Yoga practice, the Ministry of Ayush aims to encourage citizens to contribute towards a healthier, more harmonious and united India.
The initiative also reflects the continuing relevance of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s vision of national unity, connecting his legacy with contemporary efforts to promote health, wellness and community participation.
