Strengthening Global Presence

New Delhi, February 27, 2025 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level meeting to review the progress and future roadmap of the Ayush sector, emphasizing its crucial role in India’s healthcare system and global wellness landscape.
Ayush Sector’s Rapid Growth
Since the establishment of the Ministry of Ayush in 2014, the sector has witnessed remarkable growth. The market size of Ayush manufacturing expanded from USD 2.85 billion in 2014 to USD 23 billion in 2023, positioning India as a leader in traditional medicine and holistic healthcare. The Ayush Research Portal now hosts over 43,000 scientific studies, reinforcing evidence-based advancements in Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy.
Strengthening Global Presence
India’s traditional medicine sector has gained global recognition, with the World Health Organization (WHO) establishing the Global Traditional Medicine Centre in Jamnagar, Gujarat. Additionally, the introduction of the Ayush Visa has boosted medical tourism, attracting international patients seeking holistic treatment in India.
The government has also focused on integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into the Ayush Grid, enhancing accessibility and research in the field.
National and International Participation
The National Ayush Mission has played a key role in expanding infrastructure and ensuring widespread access to traditional medicine. The International Day of Yoga (IDY) continues to gain traction, with over 245 million participants in 2024. With the upcoming 10th anniversary of IDY in 2025, even greater global participation is anticipated.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to policy support, research, and innovation, particularly in Yoga, Naturopathy, and Pharmacy.
