Two-Day National Ayush Mission Summit Concludes in New Delhi with Renewed Focus on Affordable Healthcare

A Vision for Holistic Health

The two-day National Ayush Mission (NAM) Summit, organized by the Ministry of Ayush, successfully concluded today at the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in New Delhi. The summit brought together health officials, policymakers, and experts from across the country to discuss strengthening Ayush healthcare services and making them more accessible and inclusive for all.

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ayush, Shri Prataprao Jadhav, inaugurated the summit and highlighted the transformative role the Ayush system plays in providing affordable healthcare solutions. He also inaugurated two key facilities at AIIA:
✔ A Project Management Unit (PMU) to assist the public with insurance claims, and
✔ An Advanced Centre for Ayurveda Digital Learning and Communications, aimed at promoting awareness and education in Ayurveda.

Focused Discussions for Future Growth

Over the course of the summit, participants engaged in in-depth discussions centered around six major themes:

  1. Financial management and project monitoring,

  2. Integration of Ayush with modern healthcare and public health initiatives,

  3. Human resource development and capacity building,

  4. Infrastructure development and service delivery improvements,

  5. Quality assurance for ASU&H medicines, including branding and packaging, and

  6. IT-enabled services for enhancing the Ayush ecosystem.

These discussions set the stage for a more coordinated approach to healthcare delivery across states and union territories.

Driving Behavioural Change and Innovation

In the valedictory session, Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary of the Ministry of Ayush, stressed the importance of behaviour change communication and lifestyle modifications rooted in Ayurveda. He urged all states to actively participate by submitting innovative proposals for strengthening the Ayush sector in the next financial cycle. He further reinforced the government’s commitment to making Ayurveda a part of everyday life through initiatives like Har Ghar AyurYog.

Recommendations for Structural Growth

Dr. A. Raghu, Deputy Director General (Ayush Vertical), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, presented a summary of key recommendations. He encouraged states to consider creating dedicated Ayush ministries or departments to ensure sustained and coordinated growth of the sector.

The summit concluded on a high note with renewed enthusiasm and commitment from stakeholders. By focusing on integration, capacity building, and quality enhancement, the National Ayush Mission is poised to play a pivotal role in India’s health and wellness journey.
