Special Medical camp with Dengue awareness exhibition
Government employees and officials from various departments functioning at Thoothukudi Collectorate got themselves screened during the Chief Minister’s special medical camp. A team of specialist doctors rendered their services during the programme. Collector N. Venkatesh inaugurated the camp organised by the Department of Public Health and Preventive Medicine and appealed to the officials to utilise the programme to the maximum extent.
During the camp, the doctors checked for blood pressure, blood sugar, urinary tests such creatine and albumin level. Test for haemoglobin was also done along with body mass index, vitamin deficiency, malarial blood smear, digestive system functioning, psychiatric, dermatology, dental problems and those concerning ENT, ophthalmology such as refractive error and cataract. Gynaecology related issues, cervical cancer and other necessary tests were also carried out, sources said. Seven lab technicians led by District Microbiologist, Mariappan conducted these tests.
Cardiologist from Meenakshi Mission Hospital, Madurai, general physician and speciality care doctors from Thoothukudi Medical College and ophthalmologists from Agarawal Eye Hospital, Thoothukudi, Ayurvedic and Siddha doctors were involved in the camp. Dengue awareness exhibition was also put up and nilavembu kudineer was given to all the participants, sources added.
