New Building for Government Rural Siddha Hospital in Somarasampettai to Boost Healthcare Services

About the Hospital and Its Services

In a significant step towards strengthening rural healthcare infrastructure, the Government Rural Siddha Hospital in Somarasampettai is set to get a brand-new building. The foundation stone was laid recently in the presence of State Minister K. N. Nehru and Trichy District Collector V. Saravanan.

The hospital, which has been serving the local community for decades, currently operates from a 60-year-old building. Over the years, it has become increasingly challenging to accommodate patients and provide modern healthcare facilities within the aging structure.

🗣️ “This new building will provide better patient care, organized treatment areas, and modern facilities for our doctors and staff,” said District Collector V. Saravanan.

🌿 About the Hospital and Its Services

  • The hospital is a key Siddha healthcare center in the region, providing traditional medicine treatments for a wide range of ailments.

  • Currently, 50–60 doctors practice here, serving both urban and rural patients seeking Siddha remedies.

  • The new infrastructure will include dedicated treatment zones, medicine distribution counters, and patient-care units, ensuring smoother operations and enhanced patient experience.

💰 Project Details

  • The construction is funded under the National Ayush Mission.

  • The estimated budget for the new building is ₹30 lakh.

  • Officials have emphasized that while the building will be modest in size, it will significantly improve both patient flow and the quality of Siddha healthcare services in the area.

🌟 Significance for the Community

The new building is expected to revitalize the hospital’s services, making it easier for patients to access care and for doctors to provide treatments efficiently. By upgrading the infrastructure, the government aims to promote traditional medicine while ensuring modern standards of healthcare in rural areas.

State Minister K. N. Nehru remarked:

“Investing in healthcare infrastructure, especially for traditional medicine systems like Siddha, is vital for the well-being of our rural communities.”

The Somarasampettai Siddha Hospital redevelopment is now seen as a model initiative for combining heritage healthcare with modern infrastructure, ensuring that traditional healing practices continue to serve the people efficiently for generations to come.
