Nanjaruppan – Herbal Medicine as Antidote

Plant name : Nanjaruppan

Botanical name : Tylophora indica
Family : Asclepiadaceae
Actions : Antidote, Anti-asthmatic.

Siddha Medicinal Uses :

  1. The decoction prepared with the leaves and root are an excellent remedy for snake bites, any type of plant toxicity, leucorrhoea etc.
  2. The leaves of the plant is dried properly in shade and given along with equal amount of powder of cumin seeds in the dose of 1 to 2 grams twice a day for Bronchial asthma.
  3. For Bronchial asthma it is advised to take three leaves of this plant empty stomach for ten days. This medicine can produce mild symptoms of aphthous ulcers, itching, vomiting and indigestion in some patients during medication.
